Abuse Prevention Policy
We want to ensure that UMC is a safe place to worship and fellowship. To that end we have the following standards to prevent abuse from occurring in our midst. We have a number of specific rules that we train our staff and volunteers on, but the general principle that we work with is that when adults interact with children they are never alone. When adults interact with each other, there is never an assurance of privacy, and that in all relationships people are treated with respect and dignity.
We talk openly about the need for UMC to be a safe place for everyone, but it should never be a safe place for abuse to take place. If anyone experiences something that feels like abuse, we encourage them to report it. If at some point in the past, you have experienced abuse at UMC, we also would encourage you to come and talk to us about it, so that we can help deal with the circumstances. You can report it by speaking directly with the pastor, with a deacon, or with the chairman of the council. Or you can fill out the form below. It will be directed to the pastor, and you can complete it anonymously if you wish.
